Evening - I was wondering if anyone here is Post Bariatric Surgery and using Mounjaro ?
I am eight year post surgery (gastric bypass) during this time I lost just over 100lbs - however, over the course of two years the weight has crept on down to menopause and, in all honesty, bad choices. Not all of it - just over 3 stone - but enough to make me feel like I let myself down and feel a failure one way or another - hence my decision to move to MJ.
One thing WLS did, and continues to do for me, was take the edge of my appetite and I still can’t eat a meal - if I eat too much I’m sick, etc - dumping syndrome, they call it. So it still works. However, the food noise was unbearable at times so whilst not eating meals, I was picking more - hence the gain.
I’m three weeks into my MJ journey (9lbs down) and I wanted to reach out to see if anyone here had the same experience and to share any tips they may have on their approach to MJ given the challenges of long term WLS.
I am. I had a sleeve in 2014, it changed my life I lost 12 stone. I put 9 back on though with Covid and menopause - I’m now almost 8 stone down, trying to lose 2 more! I definitely feel more restriction from my sleeve.
I had a gastric sleeve in 2010 lost 5 stone regained nearly all of it, now on MJ lost more weight on it than I did with the sleeve, if only this would have been available back then I would never have needed the op. I have never lost the restriction from the sleeve but I got so hungry..MJ stops that so they actually work well together
Thats fabulous Ali ! What strength are you on and how long has it taken you if you don’t mind me asking ? I must admit that I am finding it useful that I still have the restriction process as, as you say, it compliments the MJ well - although I’m struggling to actually eat anything atm.
I have 2 months on each so far but am sticking with 7.5mg a bit longer I think as all feels good. ( I did loose 1.5 stone prior to going on MJ) I have absolutely no interest in food or alcohol. I am hoping this will be a lifelong thing for me as have struggled with weight all my adult life and this is the only thing that has ever worked, its an absolute life saver
